What CBX is, in short
It's a 120-meter pedestrian bridge connecting Tijuana International Airport to the San Diego side. You walk from one terminal to the other and you're across.
🔴 It is not another border crossing. Two things before you head over:
| It's paid | From about 20 dollars one way |
|---|---|
| Ticketed airport passengers only | No flight, no crossing |
CBX sets the prices and they change: their own page is the one that counts.
Why we publish it when almost nobody does
Because this is where the number matters most. At San Ysidro, an extra hour costs you an hour. Here, an extra hour costs you a flight.
🔴 And it's the only one of the five crossings with no plan B. If San Ysidro gets ugly you can drive to Otay. If CBX gets ugly, your plane leaves anyway.
🔴 What we can't tell you yet
We started measuring CBX the day it showed up on this page. So today we can tell you how it is right now, with the time and the source — but we can't tell you how Tuesdays behave, or what hour is best, or whether December makes it worse.
That takes months of data, and we've barely started collecting it.
🔴 And we'd rather say that here than make up an average. Same as everywhere else: how often we get it right.
How it compares to walking across at San Ysidro
They don't compare, and that's worth saying: anyone can walk across at San Ysidro. Only ticketed passengers cross at CBX, and they pay.
If your flight leaves from Tijuana, the question isn't which one suits you — it's how long CBX is right now. That's what the number above says.
The number comes from the CBP's public API, the same one the U.S. government uses. They post it once an hour — here, and on any other site you check.
